Description

Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is seeking full-time Crisis Triage Specialists (CTS) to join our Crisis Services who will develop and maintain a daily safe therapeutic environment and support other team members in the Walk in Clinic (WIC). The CTS will provide brief assessments to clients including the CSSRS and Safe-T, and also brief questions. In the role the CST will also assist in the placement of clients to the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) or a higher level of care facility, provide referrals and/or resources to clients, and evaluate incoming referrals.

About the team.

Our crisis services division is a part of a statewide crisis initiative that provides resources for mental health, substance-abuse and or emotional crisis health, information, and referrals. Our crisis services include a 24/7 walk-in crisis clinic that provides mental health assessments and referrals for individuals experiencing any self-defined crisis. We also operate a 24/7 16-bed adult crisis stabilization unit (CSU) that provides mental health treatment in the form of medication services, individual and group therapy, and 24-hour support. All employees who work in crisis services are expected to work on site with clients and are provided all necessary PPE.

About you.

The ideal candidate is well organized, appreciates the various appearances of mental health needs, has experience in crisis response and de-escalation, and is proficient in customer service. Of great importance, the ideal candidate can work independently and is self-motivated. The candidate must be extremely reliable and timely, showing up for shift and in completing documentation, be a team player, and adapt to the chancing environment that makes up crisis care.

Shift. These are new positions to AMHR, we have 8 shifts available spanning 7 days a week.

Shift Differential Pay. The swing shift is from 3 pm to 11 pm and the overnight shift is 11 pm - 7 am

  • Day Weekend (Sat, Sun): $1.00/hour
  • Swing Weekday (Mon-Thurs): $1.25/hour
  • Swing Weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun): $1.75/hour
  • Overnight Weekday (Monday - Thursday): $2.50/hour
  • Overnight Weekend (Friday, Saturday & Sunday): $3.50/hour

Salary for this role. Starting wage is based on experience and company equity. Paid bi-weekly.

  • $21.61 - $32.42 per hour

Bilingual Language Differential Pay. *rate depends on language requirements for the position and candidate's fluency.

  • Will receive scheduled earnings on a bi-weekly basis for all hours worked (excluding non-productive hours paid but not worked, e.g., paid time off, holiday, administrative, etc.) in an amount equivalent to 5% of their regular base rate (hourly or salaried), to a maximum amount of $3,000.00 per calendar year. *the annual maximum amount will be prorated based on full time equivalency (FTE).

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the first clinical contact for walk-in clients. Greet client and support completion of initial paperwork.
  • Assess the client using the CSSRS Safe-T criteria. Ask brief evaluation questions and consult with the Crisis Therapist for next steps.
  • In instances when the client qualifies for a full crisis assessment evaluation by the Crisis Therapist, provide referrals and/or resources, or assist in placement to the CSU or to other higher level of care options.
  • In instances when the client does not qualify for a full evaluation by the Crisis Therapist, the CTS will complete the client’s treatment at the WIC by providing referrals and/or resources to client.
  • Maintain the flow and response to faxed in referrals from other community partners, including gathering faxed in referrals, passing referrals to available Crisis Therapists for timely review, and, when appropriate, responding to the outside partner for feedback after a determination of placement.
  • Monitor activity of all clients in the WIC, maintaining the calm atmosphere of the waiting area.
  • Develop and maintain a daily safe therapeutic environment and support other team members in the WIC.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork in a timely and comprehensive manner to establish accurate acute care clinical records. Keep all appropriate documentation for clinical accountability and reimbursement.
  • Engage in weekly individual, team, and group supervision as required by program manager. Engage in mandatory all-staff meetings for the full team of crisis services as required by the program manager.
  • Assist in immediate clinical response to clients including de-escalation, connection to medical help, and providing comfort items such as snacks, water, blankets, etc.
  • Participate in other clinical and administrative activities as appropriate.

Qualifications


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in behavioral healthcare, human services, social work, or related field is required.
  • Previous experience with community-based services and supports in service area is required.
  • Previous experience working in office-based settings with vulnerable populations of diverse cultures and ethnicities.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Able to maintain a high level of ethical conduct regarding confidentiality, dual-relationships, and professional stature.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, reliable, and flexible (including willingness to work non- traditional hours, including at least one evening).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work with a diverse population.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities, be detail oriented, and demonstrate efficient use of time.
  • Strong computer skills, with experience using programs within Microsoft Office, to include Word, Outlook, Excel.
  • Ability to remain calm while interacting with staff, clients, and community members, especially with individuals with a behavioral health diagnosis, who can be challenging in person or via phone.
  • Ability to be flexible with the business needs of the agency and adapt to a consistently changing fast-paced environment.

Required Vaccinations and TB Test.

AMHR has prioritized the health and safety of our clients and staff and requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19, receive an annual influenza (flu) shot, and receive negative TB test results prior to their first day of hire. Proof of both vaccinations and negative TB test will be required upon your first day of employment. Medical and religious exemptions may be requested for the COVID 19 vaccine, annual flu shot or TB test.
